Affection > Attention

In our rapidly advancing world today, it seems that attracting attention has become more valued than affection. We try to be seen driving the fastest / fanciest car, living in the biggest house highest on the hill. When with our friends, we try to share stories that make us seem like the smartest person in the room, take pictures in exotic places, and share news/gossip that’ll get us more of a reaction. etc. etc….

The world has become a bit cold. What happened to having a genuine conversation with a stranger, a simple touch on the shoulder, asking someone for help with directions when getting around, or asking how they’re doing and making an effort to listen…

In the words of John Lennon, all you need is love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7xMfIp-irg

P.S: Here are some ways I brainstormed to show affection in a virtual way:

  • Creating a playlist of some good music for a friend (or a collaborative playlist with many friends…?)
    • My collab playlist (feel free to add):
  • Watching  a movie together on Netflix using netflix Teleparty
  • Playing games online together like Minecraft, and building a house, etc.
  • Reaching out to a friend and scheduling a phone call with them. Catch up and see how they’ve been doing 🙂

Here’s a picture I took a while back. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so feel free to look at this one and see what words come to mind.

Regards,
