The internet is a Circus

The internet is a circus.

It seems like surfing through the internet now, results in mostly “eye-popping” headlines. It draws people’s attention quickly, and it’s what gets your site the views, making that site more money and more prestigious.

Is there space left for a more authentic site, one which goes for depth on any matter as opposed to headlines?

What about hearing a heartwarming or random story?

What about discussing feelings of life? The Joys and Woes of it?

Why does everything nowadays need to catch your attention within a couple of seconds, otherwise it won’t be viewed? Sometimes it even feels that the longer articles are difficult to understand, or they have a lot of words but little meaning behind them.

Why not a website that presents thoughts, ideas about life, that make you think for hours, days, even longer?

I’m curious about different ways to engineer an internet “feed” to capture some of the more meaningful things on the internet. Here are some ideas I’ve thought of:

  • E-mail feed: Subscribe to a couple of good blogs, and any time someone writes something new, it’ll email you. Keep the unread emails in the inbox and take a look at the articles when there is a chance.
  • reddit: I haven’t used reddit that much, but maybe there is hope here too. I just think the headlines are also quite short which could result in fast scrolling.

I’m curious to hear from others if anyone’s found a solution to this problem.

Regards,
